Meebo Me

I found out about Meebo when I asked someone on Yahoo Messenger what version of Yahoo! she when I can't upload a picture for her. She said Meebo. Wha? Then she gave the link www.meebo.com. So I took a look. I tried logging in to Yahoo! and it worked! You don't even need a Meebo account. After awhile I finally did signed up for the Meebo account.

What's missing are the file transfer, the wink or audibles, webcam and the pop ups above the notification area of Windows XP, etc. What is available are the invisibility setting, chat using 6 buddy system(AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, Google Talk and Jabber) and a widget you can add to your website, Friendster or MySpace. All these are done on the browser with nothing to download.

Meebo is like a mini browser operating system. There are windows on a desktop like environment inside the browser. On the bottom there are chatrooms bar which is look similar to a task bar. When someone replies to you and reply to them it sounds like your playing sort of submarine game. When first sign on to meebo a blog window opens up telling you what's up with Meebo. There are few skins available if you want to customize Meebo you can also upload change your picture as you can see from the screen shot.

What's something Meebo shows that the original client don't show is if they have you on their list on MSN. MSN Messenger has a tendency to add strange people to your buddy list. This is strange. Now you can see if those strange people have you on their list and quietly remove them.

What's special about Meebo is the widget as you can see at the right side of page. You can see whether I'm online and chat with me right on this page. You can add this widget on your friendster or any page of your own on the internet.

That's about it for meebo. If you are not allowed to download and instal program on your computer then you can try Meebo. Also if you download all these client programs Meebo is great. I actually have accounts on 5 of these networks. Everything except for Jabber. I wouldn't want to download all these client. At most I have MSN and Yahoo installed on my computer. Too many messenging clients can slow your computer down or become annoying with all those buzzes and winks and pop ups. Have I mentioned there are no ads? Try Meebo.
